Lissa was a three-sport varsity athlete in high school, playing field hockey, softball, and swimming. However, as an adult it wasn’t until she discovered CrossFit that she finally felt she had found a fitness outlet that both challenged her and engaged her team sport background. “Before CrossFit, I was going to a regular gym nearly every day, logging hours on the elliptical and lifting light weights. I was frustrated that all the time I spent in the gym was not translating to the bodytype I wanted.” When she joined CrossFit, she was instantly hooked, falling in love with the Olympic lifts in particular. “The sense of camaraderie you find at the gym, as well as the fact that I now see my body as a machine rather than something that needs to be shaped, really are some of the best parts of CrossFit for me.” She was so inspired by how much it changed her life that she got her trainer certification a year after joining, and has been coaching ever since.
